The EC50 was estimated to be 0.158 mg/l when Daphnia magna was exposed with4-(phenylazo)benzene-1,3-diamine acetate.

On the basis of the effect concentration the test chemical is considered toxic and can be classified in the category "Aquatic chronic 1" as per CLP classification.

In a prediction done by SSS (2018) using the OECD QSAR toolbox with log kow as the primary descriptor, the short term aquatic toxicity to invertebrates was estimated for4-(phenylazo)benzene-1,3-diamine acetate. The EC50 was estimated to be 0.158 mg/l when Daphnia magna was exposed with 4-(phenylazo)benzene-1,3-diamine acetate.

\On the basis of the effect concentration the test chemical is considered toxic and can be classified in the category "Aquatic chronic 1" as per CLP classification.

The above prediction was further supported by experimental data conducted by Sustainability Support Services (Europe) AB for the structurally similar read across substance 4-(phenylazo)benzene-1,3-diamine (495 -54 -5).

Determination of the inhibition of the mobility of daphnids was carried out with the substance4-(phenylazo)benzene-1,3-diamineaccording to OECD Guideline 202.

The test substance was tested at the concentrations0, 0.06, 0.12, 0.25, 0.50 and 1 mg/L. Effects on immobilisation were observed for 48 hours.

The median effective concentration (EC50) for the test substance,4-(phenylazo)benzene-1,3-diamine, in Daphnia magna was determined to be 0.42 mg/L for immobilisation effects.

This value indicates that the substance is likely to be hazardouss to aquatic invertebrates and can be classified as Aquatic acute category 1 as per the CLP criteria.

The above experimental data was further supported by another structurally similar read across substance P- aminodiphenylamine (CAS:101 -54 -2).

P- amino diphenylamine was used as a test material to evaluate its short term toxicity on Daphnia magna for 48 h.The effect concentration (EC50) for immobilization of Daphnia was observed to be 0.37mg/l.

On the basis of above effect concentrations of target as well as structurally similar read across substance 4-(phenylazo)benzene-1,3-diamine acetate can be classified as "Aquatic chronic 1" as per CLP classification.
