Due to a batch of defective soda-lime, the CO2 trap sequence was changed from 2 soda-lime traps to 2 soda-lime traps followed by 2 500ml dreschels of 3M NaOH and 1 dreschel of Maxima H2O to act as a caustic vapour trap on 30/03/17 (day 1).

ColaTeric COAB achieved significant degradation in this test (60% degradation relative to the ThCO2 value) with a maximum of 110% degradation recorded on day 29. It may therefore, be concluded that there is a potential for biodegradation under environmental conditions.

The test protocol also requires that a 10 day window is applied to the degradation results (60% degradation to be reached within 10 days of 10% of the theoretical carbon dioxide produced).

10% degradation was achieved at approximately 2 day and 60% was reached at approximately day 7, ColaTeric COAB therefore achieved the 10-day window and a pass according to the guideline.

The final conclusion of this study is therefore that ColaTeric COAB is readily biodegradable in an aerobic aqueous environment
