Description of key information

The 96h LC50 value of 2-AMINO-6-CHLORO-4-NITROPHENOL was over 100 mg/L as no mortality was observed up to the highest concentration tested. The concentrations are exprerssed as nominal concentrations since the test item was demonstrated stable during test conditions. .

The 96 h LC50 of2-AMINO-6-CHLORO-4-NITROPHENOL toBrachydanio rerio(zebra fish) was determined under semi-static conditions, following the OECD Guideline 203 (Fish, Acute Toxicity Test) and the GLP.

A full test was performedunder semi-static conditions (renewal of the medium every 48 hours). One control group without the test item and five groups of 7 fish were exposed to the test item at nominal concentrations of 4.27, 9.39, 20.7, 45.5 and 100 mg/L andmeasured concentrations of 0, 3.99, 9.45, 19.1, 45.6 and 99.4 mg/L. The measured concentrations were 94 -104% of nominal concentrations, except for 2 concentrations 20.7 mg/L and 4.27 mg/L with 74.9% and 79.6% respectively. Due to the stability of the substance during the test conditions the results are expressed as nominal concentrations.

No mortality occurred and no clinical or behavioural changes were observed in the fish. Based on nominal concentrations the EC50 value (96 hours) was estimated to be over 100 mg/L.The results of this study indicate that the test material has no toxic effects onBrachydanio rerioduring an acute exposure period of 96 hours

This toxicity test is classified as acceptable, and satisfies the guideline requirements for the OECD Guideline 203 (Fish, Acute Toxicity Test).
