Description of key information

2-amino-6-chloro-4-nitrophenol has a melting range of 159 to 163 °C and next decomposes with increasing of temperature at 170°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
159 °C

Additional information

The melting point of 2-amino-6-chloro-4-nitrophenol was evaluated by following EU Method A.1 (Melting / Freezing Temperature), the OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point/Melting Range) and the GLP.

Three measurements were performed: on each measure, the same normal behavior of the sample was observed.

The mean of the three determination range was the following:

159°C: the sample became opalescent

163°C: the sample was completely melted and became dark for a possible decomposition

170°C: the sample was completely dark and decomposed

In conclusion,2-amino-6-chloro-4-nitrophenol has a melting range of 159 to 163°C and next decomposes with increasing of temperature at 170°C.
