Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

- Study performed under consideration of OECD Guideline No. 208 (2006) :
The toxic effects of Methyl 5 -(dimethylamino)-2 -methyl-5 -oxopentanoate (Rhodiasolv Polarclean) on seedling emergence of six higher terrestrial plants species were assessed following exposure to the test item under greenhouse conditions.
The test item Rhodiasolv Polarclean was mixed into the test soil directly before the seeds of the plants species were sown. The following test concentrations were used : 10, 32, 100, 320 and 1000 mg Rhodiasolv Polarclean per kg dry soil. Additionally, controls were tested in parallel.
The correct preparation of the application solution of the highest test concentration was shown by analytical recoveries of 101% of nominal for Rhodiasolv Polarclean.
At the end of the exposure period, the emergence rate, symptoms of toxicity, mortality, fresh weight and shoot length were determined.
- study performed according to ISO 22030:2005.
The toxic effects of Methyl 5 -(dimethylamino)-2 -methyl-5 -oxopentanoate (Rhodiasolv Polarclean) on seedling emergence, early growth and reproduction of two higher plant species were assessed following exposure to the test item under greenhouse conditions. The plant species were :
- Rapid-cycling turnip rape (Brassica rapa, Brassicaceae, Dicotyledonae)
- Oat (Avena sativa, Poaceae, Monocotyledonae)
The lowest NOEC observed on Rapid cycling turnip rape (Brassica rapa) was 62.5 mg/kg dry soil (end-points : symptoms of toxicity, shoot length, number of buds, number of reproductive units). However, EC10 were determined for end-point "fresh weight" (EC10 : 46.8 mg/kg dry soil) and "number of flowers" (EC10 : 26.5 mg/kg dry soil) The lowest NOEC observed on Oat (Avena sativa) was 62.5 mg/kg dry soil (end-point : shoot length).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Long-term EC10, LC10 or NOEC for terrestrial plants:
26.5 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

According to the chronic toxicity Higher terrestrial (Non target) plants test performed on the Rhodiasolv Polarclean, NOEC and EC10 was calculated. The lowest NOEC observed on Rapid cycling turnip rape (Brassica rapa) was 62.5 mg/kg dry soil (end-points : symptoms of toxicity, shoot length, number of buds, number of reproductive units). However, EC10 were determined for end-point "fresh weight" (EC10 : 46.8 mg/kg dry soil) and "number of flowers" (EC10 : 26.5 mg/kg dry soil) The lowest NOEC observed on Oat (Avena sativa) was 62.5 mg/kg dry soil (end-point : shoot length).
