Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

data waiving: supporting information

Description of key information

The test material is a brown gel. A study for flammability to solids (EC Method A10) is therefore not applicable. The flash point of the test item has been determined to be 226 ± 2 °C at 101.325 kPa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

No experimental data from a flammability study are available. The flash point is the primary indicator for ease of ignition of liquids. Testing for flammability has been waived in accordance with Annex XI, 1.1.1 as an experiment is considered scientifically unjustified. No study is required and the submission item is considered non-flammable on the basis of its flash-point of 226 ± 2 °C at 101.325 kPa.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on Classification, Labelling and Packaging of substances and mixtures, Annex I: 2.6.1. Flammable liquid means a liquid having a flashpoint of not more than 60 °C. Basically this is in agreement with Commission Directive 2001/59/EC of 6 August 2001, p L 225/269, but the limit is at 55 °C. The flashpoint of the submission item was determined according to be 226°C. Therefore it is deemed not flammable and no classification according to CLP is required.
