The sample shows an endothermic boiling peak in the 330 - 400 °C region.

The mean onset is selected as giving the best value of the boiling point. The difference between the

lower onset value and the higher peak value is used to estimate the width of the boiling range.

Decomposition test

There is a minor exothermic peak in the 157 – 229 °C region. This is probably due to decomposition

or oxidation of a minor component. Exothermic decomposition peaks are observed with mean onset

352 °C and energy 252 J/g as shown in Table 2. After the end of the test the sample was a brown

liquid, which indicates that the decomposition was incomplete.
