Approximately 0.25 g of test substance was weighed into an amber ampoule, 10 mL of redistilled water was added, the solution was sonicated for 15 min. in the ultrasonic bath, and the ampoule was subsequently welded tight. Sets of three ampoules each (triplicate determination) were affixed in the shaking water bath (Haake SWB 25) immediately and after 24 and 48 hours, and all sample sets were shaken at 30°C for a further 24 hours. The temperature was then reduced to 20°C and the ampoules were shaken for a further 24 hours to ensure a thorough mixture.


 


Preparation of the test solution and determination


At the end of the mixing time the ampoules were broken open and the aqueous solutions filtered over a filter unit (Schleicher and Schuell, type Spartan 30/0.20 μm RC). Subsequently the appearance of a samples was assessed and the pH measured. The concentration of the sample solutions was determined by HPLC.
