Description of key information

Additional information

Appearance

At ambient temperature and pressure, Capa 3050 is a colourless and odourless liquid (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Melting point

No melting point was determined for Capa 3050. A glass transition was found at around 205 K (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Boiling point

Both boiling and decomposition of Capa 3050 occurred simultaneously in nitrogen. Oxidation occurred before boiling in air. (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Density

The density of Capa 3050 is 1.1 at 20 °C (relative to water at 4 °C) (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Granulometry

According to "Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.14.1" the granulometry test does not need to be conducted as Capa 3050 is a liquid.

Vapour pressure

The vapour pressure of Capa 3050 is < 1 Pa at 25 °C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Partition coefficient

The weighted average partition coefficient (log Kow) for Capa 3050 is 2.4 at 25 °C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Water solubility

The solubility of Capa 3050 in water is 5.1 g/L (with 0.1 g/L TMP) or 28 g/L (with 0.96 g/L TMP) at 20°C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Surface tension

The surface tension of Capa 3050 is 53 mN/m at 20°C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Flash point

The flash point of Capa 3050 is 491 K (218 °C) (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp UK, 2009).

Autoflammability

The self-ignition temperature of Capa 3050 is 385 °C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Flammability

According to "Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.10.1" flammability test does not have to be conducted on Capa 3050 as it is a liquid.

Explosiveness

Examination of the structure indicates that there are no groups associated with explosive properties. Therefore, negative results can be predicted and no testing for explosive properties has been carried out.

Oxidising properties

Due to the structural composition of the substance it is not considered to be oxidising. The substance does not contain any of the components listed in “Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.13.3 table R.7.1-29”. According to “Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.13.4 no experimental testing has to be conducted if the substance due to structural composition is considered not to be oxidising.

Stability in organic solvents

The stability in organic solvents is not considered critical to ensure confidence in other test results for other endpoints. Therefore testing is not needed to be conducted according to “Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.16”.

Dissociation constant

The calculation program SPARC has been used for the prediction and it indicated that the substance is not an ionisable compound since no change in charge was obtained at different pH. According to “Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.17.1” the dissociation constant does not have to be conducted for substances that lack ionisable functional groups.

Viscosity

The viscosity of Capa 3050 is 2.0 Pa s at 20 °C and 509 mPa s at 40 °C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).
