Description of key information

Under the conditions of the present study with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata,  AD-2000 reduced both growth rate and yield of this fresh water algae species significantly at a loading rate of 32 mg/l. Since the water solubility of AD-2000 was < 0.2 mg/l, the observed toxicity at these relative high loading rates is probably caused by another component (impurity or additive) with a higher solubility level in water.

The EL50 for growth rate reduction (EL50: 0-48h) was 37 mg/l with a 95 % confidence interval ranging from 26 to 51 mg/l.

The EL50  for yield inhibition (EL50: 48h) was 24 mg/l with a 95 % confidence interval ranging from 15 to 39 mg/l.

The NOELR for yield reduction was 10 mg/l, while that of growth rate reduction was 18 mg/l.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
