Alkenes C11/13/14 do not contain any hydrolysable functional groups, so will not undergo hydrolysis. A biodegradation screening study is not available for alkenes C11/13/14. However, based on read across from test substances with carbon numbers above and below the test substance we can conclude that alkenes C11/13/14 are readily biodegradable. Due to this, the simulation tests on degradation in water, soil and sediment are not required as alkenes C11/13/14 are not expected to persist in the aquatic or terrestrial environment.

Log BCF have been calculated on the basis of the calculated log Kow using two different QSARs that are appropriate for dodecene and tetradecene which have been selected to represent alkenes C11/13/14.The calculated log BCF are in the range 2.26 -4.66. This indicates that alkenes C11/13/14 may pose a risk of bioaccumulation or secondary poisoning. A log Koc of 4.98 -5.77 has also been calculated on the basis of the Kow using a QSAR that is appropriate for dodecene and tetradecene.
