The instrument was checked measuring the flash point of Naphthalene as Reference Material.

The flash point of the reference substance Naphthalene was determined to be 81.5 and 79.5 °C, hardly deviating from the literature value (80°C, Safety Data Sheet according to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Merck).

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
In case of the test item three parallel tests were carried out. The measured flash points of Fluowet PMA600 were: 110.6°C, 110.6 °C and 110.5 °C resulting a mean value: 111 °C.

The repeatability criterion was met because the maximum difference between replicate determinations was less than 2°C.
Executive summary:

Flash point is the lowest temperature, at which the test item in a closed vessel evolves vapours in such amounts that a flammable vapour-air mixture is produced and application of an ignition source causes the vapours to ignite.

The flash point of a substance is a measure of the tendency to form a flammable mixture with air. It is used in shipping and safety regulations to define flammable and combustible materials. Flash point can also demonstrate the possible presence of highly volatile and flammable materials in the sample. The purpose of this study was to determine the flash point ofFluowet PMA600with a closed cup method.

The test item three parallel tests were carried out. The measured flash points of Fluowet PMA600 were: 110.6°C, 110.6 °C and 110.5 °C resulting a mean value: 111 °C. The repeatability criterion was met because the maximum difference between replicatedeterminations was less than 2°C.
