Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Two Klimisch 2 studies are available and used in a WoE approach, a OECD 209 study and a study performed according to the DIN 38412, part 8 guideline. The OECD 209-test results (BASF, 1987) were chosen to derive a PNEC-STP and not a test result which was not performed according to standardized test method. The respiration inhibition test from BASF was performed according to a valid guideline including a test duration of 30 min. The 30 min. EC50 value of > 600 mg/L is used for the CSA and derivation of the PNEC.

Additional information

Two studies were used in a WoE approach are used to cover this endpoint.

The key study, a respiration inhibition study (OECD TG209) by BASF AG (1987) reported a 30-min EC50 of > 600 mg/L. The single concentration tested was 600 mg/L of morpholine, 4 -ethyl-, and a blank control using domestic/synthetic sewage sludge.

A second study study was a Pseudomonas putida oxygen consumption study (BASF, 1990). The study was performed according to (DIN 38412, part 8) and reported a 17-h EC50 of 1768 mg/L. The 17-h EC10 value was 1151 mg/L.

As the Pseudomonas putida oxygen consumption test is not a standard test normally used for this endpoint, the results of the standard OECD 209 were considered as key values for the assessment.
