Description of key information

The chronic toxicity of silatrizole on the survival rate and reproduction rate of Daphnia magna was investigated in a GLP-compliant 21-day test conducted in accordance with OECD Guideline 211. Tests animals were exposed to the filtrate of a supersaturated stock suspension of the test substance (nominal loading rate: 100 mg/l; nominal concentration: 275 µg/l) as well as to 1:3.2, 1:10, 1:32 and 1:100 dilutions of the filtrate. The survival rates and reproduction rates of the test animals after 21 days were not reduced up to the highest test concentration (the undiluted filtrate). Therefore, the 21-day NOEC of silatrizole to Daphnia magna was determined to be at least 226 µg test substance/l (as the mean measured test substance concentration in the undiluted filtrate). The 21-day LOEC and the 21-day EC50 could not be quantified since the test substance has no toxic effect up to the water solubility limit of the test substance in the used test water.
