Description of key information

The density of FC-72 is 1.678 g/cm3 at 25 °C (ASTM D4052-96).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The key study was conducted under method ASTM D4052-96. The study was not conducted in accord with GLP guidelines; therefore this study is classified as reliable with restrictions. In a supporting study of two purified chemical components of the FC-72 mixture, a density of 1.6948 g/cm3 at 21.46 °C was reported for perfluoro-n-hexane and a density of 1.7319 g/cm3 at 20.21 °C was reported for perfluoro-2-methylpentane, measured by pycnometer. The pycnometer method is included in OECD 109 but no study details were available and the study was not conducted in accord with GLP guidelines; therefore these results are considered reliable with restrictions. Another value of 1680kg/m3 at 25 °C was found in a table of physicochemical properties. However, due to few details available, it cannot be classified as to its reliability.
