Description of key information

The melting point of quinidine is in the range of 169 - 176°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
172.5 °C

Additional information

According to EPI Suite v.4.11 and ChemIDplus Advanced the experimentally determined melting point of quinidine is 174 °C. Details on the method are not available. The melting point of quinidine given by the peer-reviewed database, GSBL, is in the range of 169 - 174 °C. According to the publication of Smith et al., 1973 the melting point of quinidine is 176°C. Thus, for the melting point a mean value of 172.5°C is considered as appropriate value.
