The water solubility of the test substance was 2.71 mg/L by using GC/MS methods under the valid test conditions (20±0.5) °C.

Executive summary:

The water solubility of dihexyl ether was tested according to the requirements of Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals": "Water Solubility" (2000) (OECD TG 105). Because the solubility of the test substance was <10 mg/L according to the preliminary test, the water solubility of the test substance was tested using the Flask method in the definitive test. The test substance was analysed by GC/MS method with the minirnum quantitative lirnit of 0.015 mg/L, which met the requirement of flask method. The test results indicated the water solubility of test substance was 2.71 mg/L under the valid test conditions (20±0.5) °C.

Description of key information

The experimentally determined water solubility of the test substance was 2.71 mg/L (OECD 105 - Flask method). This result is further supported by the QSAR calculations with an accepted computer model resulting in a water solubility of 2.874 mg/l. And in addition by an older experimental study, which determined the water solubility of dihexyl ether as < 10 mg/l (quantification limit).
