Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
oxidising solids
Type of information:
calculation (if not (Q)SAR)

key study
Reliability:

Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
accepted calculation method
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The Pourbaix diagram of zinc oxide was calculated using the EpH module of the HSC 7.0 program. The diagram relating to ZnO is defined as a system Zn-H2O. Oxygen and hydrogen are automatically included in the system. The molality, mol/kg(H2O), of the element Zn was calculated from the initial mass of ZnO in the experimental water solubility measurements. The zinc species chosen for the system were solid Zn, ZnO, Zn(OH)2 and ions ZnO22-, HZnO2- and Zn2+ (expressed as in HSC 7.0).
