2-ethylhexyl acetate is acutely toxic for fish.

According to OECD Guideline 203 an acute fish test with the rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss was conducted [ABC Laboratories Inc., 2002]. Due to the low water-solubility of 2-ethylhexyl acetate, a water accommodated fraction (WAF) was tested. The concentrations of 2-ethylhexyl acetate were analytically verified. The measured LC50 value after 96 hours was 8.27 mg/L.
Furthermore, the toxicity of 2-ethylhexyl acetate was tested on Oncorhynchus mykiss in a limit test according to OECD 203 [BASF AG, 2004]. No mortality observed at the test concentration of 4.5 mg/L 2-ethylhexyl acetate.
