First-aid measures

GENERAL INFORMATION: Immediately remove any clothing soiled by the product

AFTER INHALATION: In case of unconsciousness place patient stably in side position for transportation.

AFTER SKIN CONTACT: Immediately wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly.

AFTER EYE CONTACT: Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.

AFTER SWALLOWING: Do not induce vomiting; call for medical help immediately.

INFORMATION FOR DOCTOR: symptomatic treatment and if possible contact poison specialist.

Fire-fighting measures

SUITABLE EXTINGUISHING AGENTS:

CO2, powder or water spray. Fight larger fires with water spray or alcohol resistant foam.

-SPECIAL HAZARDS CAUSED BY THE SUBSTANCE, ITS PRODUCTS OF COMBUSTION OR RESULTING GASES:

Carbon monoxide (CO)

FORMATION OF  TOXIC GASES  is possible during heating (above 200°C) or in case of fire.

-PROTECTIVE EQUIPEMENT:

Wear self-contained respiratory protective device.

Cool vessels at risk of getting overheated with water spray

Accidental release measures

PERSON RELATED SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:

Ensure adequate ventilation.

Wear protective equipment. Keep unprotected persons away.

MEASURES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION:

Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water.

MEASURES FOR CLEANING/COLLECTING:

Absorb with liquid-binding material (sand, diatomite, acid binders, universal binders, sawdust).

Handling and storage

INFORMATION ON SAFE HANDLING:  

Ensure good ventilation/exhaustion at the workplace or respiratory protection in case of dust formation.

Store in dry place in tightly closed vessels.  

INFORMATION ABOUT FIRE AND EXPLOSION PROTECTION:  

The product is not flammable  

STORAGE  REQUIREMENTS FOR STORAGE AREAS AND VESSELS:

Avoid dust clouds to come into contact with ignition sources e.g. sparks.

Use only big bags equipped with conductivity for electrostatic discharge.

Earthing of big bags required for filling and emptying.

Store in a dry place.

Keep away from sources of ignition and strong oxidizing agents.  

DO NOT USE FOOD CONTAINERS. RISK OF CONFUSION!  

Containers are clearly and permanently labelled.  

Store in the original container if possible.  

Keep container tightly closed.

Keep container well below 150°C.

Storage temperature: well below 150°C

Exposure controls / personal protection

PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT:

-General protective and hygienic measures:

 

  Keep away from foodstuffs and beverages

 

  Immediately remove all soiled and contaminated clothing

 

  Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work.

 

  Avoid contact with the eye and skin.

 

-RESPIRATORY PROTECTION:

In case of brief exposure or low pollution use respiratory filter device. In case of intensive or longer exposure (formation of dust) use self-contained respiratory protective device.

PROTECTION OF HANDS :Protective gloves.

The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the substance.

Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation.

  -MATERIAL OF GLOVES

 

The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.

 -PENETRATION TIME OF GLOVE MATERIAL:

The exact break through time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.

-EYE PROTECTION:

STABILITY AND REACTIVITY:

-Thermal decomposition/ conditions to be avoided: Thermal decomposition starting slowly at 200°C./ Keep temperature at least at safety margin according to TRAS 410 (Technische Regel Anlagensicherheit) (e.g. 50K below 200°C).

-Materials to be avoided:  Keep away from oxidizing agents and acidic substances.
