Additional information

Short description of key information:
4-Hydroxybenzoic acid is expected not to cause genetic toxicity according to bacterial reverse mutation tests and chromosome aberration tests, which were both negative. There is no in vivo data available and not needed according to REACH and the observed in vitro results.

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

4-HBA revealed negative results in a reverse bacterial mutation tests, in a micronucleus test and in a chromosomal aberration test. There exists no other information on mutagenic activity therefore there is no further testing necessary according to REACH standard requirements, i. e. Annex VIII 8.4., and according to regulation (EU) 1272/2008 there is no classification necessary.
