Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

In a LLNA study in mice, 1,3-Dioxolane showed SI values <3 (when tested up to 100%), meaning that the substance is considered to be a non skin sensitiser.

Based on the these results, 1,3-Dioxolane needs not to be classified and has no obligatory labeling requirement for sensitisation by skin contact.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
There is a LLNA study available.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the LLNA study in mice with an SI<3 when testing 1,3-Dioxolane up to 100%, 1,3 -Dioxolane has no obligatory labeling requirement for sensitisation by skin contact (DSD and CLP).

1,3-Dioxolane needs not to be classified (DSD and CLP) for respiratory sensitisation, since the skin sensitisation study is negative and there are no indications in the other inhalation toxicity studies or on human data suggesting an induction of a respiratory sensitisation reaction.
