Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

2-phenoxyethanol has shown to be readily biodegradable, hence it can be assumed that the substance will be completely biologically degraded within the STP process. Furthermore, for substances not passing the STP-process but being readily biodegradable, it can be assumed that they will be also biologically degraded in the surface water within a short time. Thus, transport of the substance to the soil compartment is unlikely. Besides, the determined adsorption coefficient (log Koc 1.61) indicates a low adsorption potential of 2-phenoxyethanol on solid materials which is confirmed by the results of several distribution models. Furthermore, 2-phenoxyethanol is not supposed to be directly applied to soil. Due to these considerations together with the availability of data on soil macroorganisms, plants and soil microorganisms, further testing of terrestrial arthropods is considered to be not necessary.
