Description of key information

At 50 °C, the measured vapour pressures of the 5 aromatic sulphonic acids ranged from 4.9 to 14.7 kPa.

Since the measured values has been performed on 65 % solutions at 35 °C, to have a value to be used for the chemical safety assessment, the calculate values with MPBPVP v1.43 (Modified Grain method) have been considered:

The experimental results are:

Benzene sulphonic acid: 16.7 Pa

p-Toluene sulphonic acid: 1.95 Pa

Hydroxybenzene sulphonic acid: 69.8 Pa

Xylene sulphonic acid: 27.9 Pa

Cumene sulphonic acid: 56.1 Pa

The calculated vapour pressures of the 5 aromatic sulphonic acids ranged from 1.95 to 69.8 Pa at 20 °C.

The highest conservative calculated value has been selected as key value for the Chemical Safety Assessment.
