Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Koc = 0.15. This value has been retained for PNEC calculations when equilibrium partitioning method is required. This Koc is obtained from Gerstl' equation (1990) as recommended by the technical guidance document for deriving PNECs.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
0.15

Additional information

No experimental data are available for predicting DMSO adsorption/desorption potential. Nevertheless, based on the available data gathering modeling approach and physico-chemical data (water solubility, n-octanol/water partition coefficient), DMSO is not expected to sorb on soil/sediment particles.
