Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Vapour pressure (substance): 27.9 kPa at 20°C
Vapour pressure (silanol hydrolysis product): 1.29 kPa at 20°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Several reliable measured vapour pressures are available giving values in the range of 24.7 - 27.9 kPa at 20°C. The key study has been selected from several reliable results because the report contained the fullest details of the experimental method and results. A number of sources to which reliability could not be assigned gave values within a similar range. Small variations in the vapour pressure values may be caused by variations in purity of the test substance and in the test method used.

The substance hydrolyses rapidly in contact with water and, therefore, the vapour pressure of the silanol hydrolysis product, trimethylsilanol, is also relevant for risk assessment purposes. A vapour pressure value of 1.29 kPa at 20°C was determined in accordance with the standard guideline EC A4.
