Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The estimated log Koc values for components of Natural Oil monomer range from 3.76 to > 5.0. A log Koc value of 4.7 was assigned for use in derivation of half-lives and PNEC values for soil and sediment. This value is based on a weighted average of log Koc values for eluted peaks, assignment of log Koc = 5.0 for methyl palmitate and methyl stearate, and the typical percentage of these components in the NOM substance (Section 1.2).

Additional information

Organic carbon-normalized adsorption coefficients (log Koc) were estimated for the components of the Natural Oil Monomer according to the OECD 121: HPLC method (The Dow Chemical Company (071152) 2008).  The components of this UVCB substance were eluted as six chromatographic peaks using the defined HPLC separation conditions. The retention times of these eluted peaks were correlated to log Kocvalues ranging from 3.76 to 4.95. Two components of the Natural Oil Monomer, methyl palmitate and methyl stearate, were available as pure reference substances and were shown to not elute under these separation conditions. These components were determined to have estimated log Kocvalues of > 5.0, based on the established correlation of retention time and log Kocfor seven reference substances.  A log Kocvalue of 4.7 was assigned for use in derivation of half-lives and PNEC values for soil and sediment. This value is based on a weighted average of log Kocvalues for eluted peaks, assignment of log Koc= 5.0 for methyl palmitate and methyl stearate, and the typical percentage of these components in the NOM substance (Section 1.2).
