One reliable study (Stapleton et al., 1998) is available for this endpoint showing that salicylic acid is biodegraded in soil. But as this study has not been performed according to the OECD testing guideline, it is difficult to conclude for this endpoint. The study of Alexander & Lustigman (1966) showed that in the conditions of the test, salicylic acid may be degraded by a soil microflora (100% loss of UV absorbancy in 2 days). Two additional data are available, but due to lack of data, they can not be validated and used for the assessment of this endpoint.
