Sampling and analysis

Analytical monitoring:
yes
Details on sampling:
Samples (about 150 ml in duplicate) of each test concentration were drawn from the approximate center of the test vessels. They were taken immediately before the exposure and after 96 hours exposure and kept at - 18°C to - 22°C until analysis.

Test solutions

Vehicle:
no
Details on test solutions:
Calculated amounts of the stock solution to produce the desired test concentrations were given into the water and were homogeneously distributed. The fishes were then transfered into the aquaria.
The test substance was homogeneously distributed in the test vessels at all test times and test concentrations.

Test organisms

Test organisms (species):
Danio rerio (previous name: Brachydanio rerio)
Details on test organisms:
- Supplier: West Aquarium / D-3422 Bad Lauterberg
- Number of fishes: 10 per concentration and control
- Length: 24 mm (18-28 mm)
- Weight: 0.14 g (0.07-0.21 g)
- Loading: 0.09 g/L
- Feeding: None
- Treatment: None

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
Under the conditions tested in an acute fish toxicity test in Danio rerio, the LD50 for fish is considered to be 63 mg/L after 96 h exposure.
