Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

As key study regarding biodegradability a test performed by the Japanese Chemicals Inspection & Testing Institute using the analogous substance 2-n-butyl-2-ethyl-1,3-propanediol, CAS No. 115-84-4 was identified. This analogy is suitable as both substance have a comparable chemical structure and their physico-chemical properties mainly lie within the same range. The test according to OECD guideline 301C using the analogous substance was performed with a mixed inoculum. After 28 days a biological oxygene demand [BOD/ThOD] of 0 - 22% and a TOC removal of 8% were measured. This analogy is supported by a test similar to OECD guideline 302B using industrial activated sludge as inoculum (BASF 1988). After 28 days a DOC removal of 0% was found.
