Description of key information
According to REACH Annex X, point 9.5.1, long-term toxicity testing for sediment organisms shall be proposed if the chemical safety assessment according to Annex I indicates the need to investigate further the effects on sediment organisms.
Lactic acid is readily biodegradable (see 5.2.1) and is a ubiquitous and essential molecule of life. Furthermore, it will not adsorb to sediment (see 5.4.1). Therefore, lack of hazards for sediment organisms is concluded following the principles of the equilibrium-partitioning method.Key value for chemical safety assessment
