Not relevant due to low vapour pressure
No experimental data evaluating the potential for photodegradation
of methyl laurate (CAS No. 111-82-0) in air are available. Therefore, a
QSAR calculation using the AOPWIN v1.92 program has been performed,
resulting in an estimated half-life of 29.2 hours (reaction with
OH-radicals, 24h-day)(López Parrón, 2011). Nevertheless, this is not
expected to be a relevant environmental fate process, since methyl
laurate is not likely to be present in the atmosphere in relevant
amounts based on its vapour pressure value (0.55 Pa at 25 °C). As this
study is not a standard information requirement according to Regulation
(EC) No. 1907/2006 and there is no indication from the CSA according to
Annex I on the need to investigate further the fate and behavior of the
substance (Annex X requirement), no testing is considered necessary.
