TEST MEDIUM / WATER PARAMETERS
- Source/preparation of dilution water: M4 medium (according to ISO 10706) was prepared. This M4 medium is a synthetic fresh water, which was used for culture and test purposes. This water was prepared on the basis of an ultrapure, demineralized water with a conductivity < 0.05 µS/cm. After preparation the M4 medium is aerated for approximately 24 h until saturation with oxygen is reached.
- Ca/mg ratio: 4:1
- Conductivity: 550 - 650 microS/cm

OTHER TEST CONDITIONS
- Adjustment of pH: at a concentration of 100 mg/l a neutralised replicate was tested
- Photoperiod: 16 : 8 hours day-night regime
- Light intensity: diffuse light, 2 - 7 microE/(m2*s) at a wave length of 400 - 700 nm

Details on results:
The test substance causes a change in the pH value of the test system. The results refer to an unneutralised sample. After neutralisation of the test solution at a test concentration level of 100 mg/l, cyanoacetic acid was observed to have a significant reduction in the level of toxicity.
