2-Chlorotoluene proved to be of low bioconcentration potential (BCF 87.2 to 112 L/kg whole body wet-weight) in fresh water fish (carp) for the two tested concentrations of 0.3 mg/L and 0.03 mg/L (flow-through), respectively (METI Japan, 1979).
Executive summary:

In a reliable bioconcentration study owned by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Japan using carp (Cyrinus carpio), bioconcentration was assessed over 8 weeks at two exposure concentration in flow-through design. The study was performed equivalent to OECD TG 305C (1981) in 1979. Test item concentrations in water were analysed after 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks and proved to be close to nominal values (0.03 and 0.3 mg/L). After 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks 2 fish per concentration level were analysed and BCF-values were determined individually from the concentration found in fish and the measured aquatic exposure concentrations. The BCF range reported per exposure level equals the lowest and highest BCF from the eight individual values determined over the course of the test. Both, at the lower and at the higher exposure concentration the plateau was determined after ca. 4 weeks (low variation of BCF values over time).
