Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The BAM friction, Koenen steel sleeve and BAM fall hammer tests all support the conclusion that the test substance is not explosive.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

The substance does not contain any functional groups identified in the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, Appendix 6, Table A6.1, as being associated with explosive properties. Therefore, according to Regulation (EC) no. 1907/2006, Annex VII, 7.11, column 2, the study does not need to be performed. However, the Koenen Steel Sleeve test, the BAM fall hammer test and the BAM friction test were conducted and the results support the view that the test substance is not explosive.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In the BAM fall hammer test the limiting impact energy was determined to be >40J and as such the substance is not considered to be an impact sensitive substance.

In the Koenen steel sleeve test the observed result that the limiting hole diameter >2.0mm implies the tested material is not a thermally sensitive substance.

In the BAM friction test the observed result that the limiting frictional load was >360N implies the substance is not a friction sensitive substance.
