Description of key information

A simulation test conducted in accordance with OECD guideline 303A (and under GLP)  was  adapted to trap 14CO2 and volatiles

The recovery of activity from the test system in the last weeks of the removal period was on average 51.9 +/- 3.5%. It was speculated that this may be due to the occurrence of a highly volatile metabolite not retained by the gas trap series used. The amount of activity in the wasted sludge, gas traps and effluent was relatively constant. The activity remaining in the effluent was 13.6 +/- 2.7% of the added activity, in the wasted sludge 4.7 +/- 1.2 % and in the gas traps 33.1 +/- 3.6%. No parent compound was detected in the effluent stream and the remaining radioactivity was related to three metabolites (TBA and 2 unknown compounds) and dissolved CO2. This means that most TBHP was removed due to primary biodegradation to TBA. The degree of mineralisation was 41.1 +/- 3.5%.
