Description of key information

Tripropylene glycol n-butyl ether (TPnB) is readily biodegradable based on an OECD 301F screening test.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

TPnB meets the criteria for ready biodegradation, passing the 10 day window in an OECD 301F test (key study). Degradation based on oxygen consumption reached 72% after 10 days. The formation of carbon dioxide reached 56% indication substantial mineralization of TPnB.
