Phototransformation in air is not relevant due to low vapour pressure (< 0.0001 Pa at 20 °C)

No experimental studies investigating the phototransformation of 1,2-Benzenedicarboxylic acid, di-C16-18-alkyl esters (CAS 90193-76-3) are available. Based on QSAR calculations for its main components using AOPWIN v1.92, the test substance is susceptible to indirect photodegradation in air. The estimated half-life for the reaction with OH-radicals is in the range of 7.9 hours to 8.9 hours (24 h day; OH-concentration: 0.5E+06 OH/cm3; Erler, 2013). However, photodegradation is not expected to be an important environmental fate process since the main components of the substance are not expected to evaporate into the atmosphere due to their very low vapor pressures (< 0.0001 Pa at 20 °C). As this study is not a standard information requirement in REACh and there is no indication from the Chemical Safety Assessment (CSA) on the need to investigate further the fate and behaviour of the substance, no further testing is considered necessary for the test substance.
