Additional information

As a result of the environmental hazard assessment it can be concluded that creatine:

- Does not meet the criteria for classification as dangerous;

- Does not display effects lower than the criteria for classification and so the substance is not classified;

- Does not show hazards for which currently no classification criteria exist;

- Cannot be considered as PBT/vPvB.

Conclusion on classification

In all available tests on aquatic organisms neither lethal nor sublethal effects could be observed at creatine concentrations as high as 84.6 mg/L (mean measured concentration fish study), 880 mg/L (daphnia), and 100 mg/L (algae). Therefore, no E/LC50 values could be derived for the substance. In addition, creatine is readily biodegradable (71.2 % biodegradation within 10 days) and has a negligible potential for bioaccumulation (based on the measured log Kow of < -2).Thus, a classification for the environment is not warranted.
