Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

EC50 (72 h): > 100 mg/L for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (OECD 201)
NOEC (72 h): ≥ 100 mg/L for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (OECD 201)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One experimental study investigating the effects of 2-(1-methylethoxy)ethyl acetate (CAS 19234-20-9) to aquatic algae is available (Vryenhoef, 2012). The study was performed according to OECD 201 under GLP conditions with the freshwater algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. A preliminary range-finding study with four concentrations up to 100 mg/L did not result in inhibition of growth. Therefore, a confirmatory limit test with 100 mg/L was performed. No inhibition of growth was observed in the definitive test either. Thus, an EC50 (72 h) > 100 mg/L (nominal) and a NOEC (72 h) ≥ 100 mg/L (nominal) were derived (based on both growth rate and yield). Measured concentrations were within the range of 80 - 120%. Therefore, the EC50 and the NOEC were based on the nominal concentrations only.
