Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The following information is available for the biodegradation water endpoint:
Mead C. (2008) AS305BD: Assessment of Ready Biodegradability ; CO2 evolution test. Testing laboratory: Safepharm Laboratories Limited. Report no.: 0703/0386. Owner company: Chevron Energy Technology Company. Report date: 2008-03-05.
This study has been rated as 1 under the Klimisch scoring system and so is considered to be sufficient to address this endpoint.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

In a ready biodegradability study (OECD 301B), 36% biodegradation was observed after 28 days (Mead, C.(2008a)). However, this study was performed with an initial concentration of test material 455 times higher than the water solubility of the substance where most of the compound was not completely dissolved. In another ready biodegradability study (Cai, L., 2006) performed with the calcium substance of the same salt, 79% biodegradation was observed after 28 days.

AS305BD will always be ionized in the environment due to its pKa value. Therefore AS305BD can be defined as readily biodegradable.
