Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A reliable 96 h LC50 value range of 0.7-0.8 mg/L has been determined for the effects of C7, C8 and C9 predominantly linear alcohols to the freshwater fish I. idus melanotus. Only a range value could be determined due to the steepness of the dose response curve. The acteone concentration is higher than the guideline however the controls were unaffected. The result is not in line with the other data but the reasons for this are not clear. There is no evidence of water quality parameters contributing to this.

The data available for C6, C8 and C9, which are in the range of Alcohols, C7-9, linear and branched have determined LC50 values of 97, 13 and 5 mg/l respectively. Additionally data available for other taxonomic groups have determined EC50 in the range 3 -6 mg/l. Therefore the EC50 value of 0.7-0.8 mg/l is out of line. A reliable 96 h LC50 value of 13 mg/L has been calculated by (Q)SAR for the effects of the test substance on the fish taxonomic group.
