Description of key information

With respect to flammability in contact with water and pyrophoric properties, based on the molecular structure none of the members of the category was found to fulfill the criteria. Thus, none of the members of the category is (highly) flammable in contact with water or pyrophoric.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Based on the molecular structure a statement rather than a full study was considered to be sufficient to cover the endpoints flammability in contact with water and pyrophoric properties.

Flammability in contact with water: None of the components of the members of the category, including HXL-8366, contain groups that might lead to the evolution of a dangerous amount of flammable gas when coming into contact with water or damp air. No metals, transition metals, boron or silicon are present. It is also not to be expected that an interaction between the different components occurs.

Pyrophoric properties: Based on the structure and composition of the members of the category, including HXL-8366, none of their components contain chemical group that might lead to spontaneous ignition a short time after coming into contact with air. It is also not to be expected that an interaction between the different components occurs.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Since the members of the category are, based on structural features, not pyrophoric or flammable in contact with water, they are not classified.
