Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Ensure that the First Aid Personnel are aware of the product involved, and take precautions to protect themselves (e.g. wear personal protection equipment). Remove affected person from danger area, lay him down. Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately.

Keep warm, calm and covered up.

After inhalation remove the casualty into fresh air and keep him calm.

After contact with skin:  In case of contact with skin wash off immediately with polyethylene glycol 400, then with plenty of water.

After contact with eyes:  Rinse the affected eye with plenty of water, at the same time keep the unaffected eye well protected.

After ingestion: When swallowed seek medical aid immediately and show the physician the packaging or the label of the packaging.

Advice to doctor:

Symptoms: Headache, Disorientation, Nausea, Cyanosis (change of colour of lips and finger nails to blue gray), Methaemoglobinaemia

Hazards: Risk of deterioration due to consumption of alcohol.

Treatment: Monitor blood circulation. Keep under medical supervision for at least 48 hours. If necessary, give oxygen. In the event of cyanosis give vitamin C, oxygen, keep out of sun. Against Methaemoglobin anemia: Give 300 ml Toluidine blue intravenously or 1 to 2 mg/kg Methylene

blue intravenously.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: alcohol-resistant foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide, water spray jet

Extinguishing media that must not be used for safety reasons: Full water jet

In case of fires, hazardous combustion gases are formed: Carbon monoxide (CO), Carbon dioxide (CO2), Nitrous gases (NOx), Hydrogen chloride (HCl), Hydrogen fluoride (HF). Under certain conditions of combustion traces of other toxic substances cannot be excluded

Do not inhale explosion and/or combustion gases. Use self-contained breathing apparatus.

Fire residues and contaminated firefighting water must be disposed of in accordance with the local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Wear personal protective equipment. Unprotected persons must be kept away. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Do not allow entry to drains, water courses or soil. Contain contaminated water/firefighting water. Prevent spread over a wide area (e.g. by containment or oil barriers).

Pick up with liquid binding materials and if necessary fill in containers capable of being locked. Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly, observing environmental regulations. When picked up, treat material as prescribed under heading "Disposal". Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with the regulations. Containers in which spilt substance has been collected must be adequately labelled.

Handling and storage

Provide good ventilation of working area (local exhaust ventilation if necessary). Avoid formation of aerosols.

Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals. Observe the general rules of industrial fire protection.

Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Protect from direct sunlight. Do not store or transport together with foodstuffs.

Do not store together with animal feedstocks.

Substance should not be stored togehter with chemicals, which could cause hazardeous reactions.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection. Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately and clean thoroughly before using again. Garments that cannot be cleaned must be destroyed (burnt). Clean hands and face during work intervals and after work.

Respiratory protection : Use respiratory protection if exposure cannot be excluded. Multi-purpose filter ABEK

Hand protection : Nitrile rubber applied on knitted cotton for mechanical stress. Because this glove is used only for mechanical protection, the minimum breakthrough time and thickness are not relevant to safety.

Against long term exposure to substance: Butyl rubber gloves. Minimum breakthrough time / gloves :> 8 h. Minimum thickness / gloves0,5 mm.

Polychloropren gloves.

These types of protective gloves are offered by various manufacturers. Please note the manufacturers´ detailed statements, especially about the minimum thickness and the minimum breakthrough time. Consider also the particular working conditions under which the gloves are being used.

Not suitable because of degradation, strong soaking or low breakthrough time: natural rubber, natural latex, polychloropren, nitrile rubber, nitrile latex, polyvinylchloride.

Eye protection : tightly fitting safety glasses

Body protection : Industrial working cloth. If exposure cannot be excluded, impermeable protective clothing.

Stability and reactivity

If handled and stored correctly no hazardous reactions or thermal instability are known.

Hazardous reactions are known with strong acids and bases.

Disposal considerations

Special waste incineration plant, after consultation with operators. Observe local authority regulations.
