Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance adsorbs on algae in test medium after 72 hours and undergoes a photo-transformation at the same time. Based on nominal concentrations, the toxicity of the test substance on algae growth rate was calculated as ErC50(72h) = 113.3 mg/L, NOErC(72h) = 10 mg/L and the associated LOErC(72h) = 32 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
113.3 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
10 mg/L

Additional information

One GLP study (Hoffmann, 2010) was extensively conducted. It revealed low algal toxicity; yet the substance happened to adsorb on algae in test medium after 72 hours, as well as to undergo a photo-transformation at the same time. Based on nominal concentrations, the toxicity of the test substance on algae growth rate was calculated as ErC50(72h) = 113.3 mg/L, NOErC(72h) = 10 mg/L and the associated LOErC(72h) = 32 mg/L. Other studies are available on algae (Herschke, 1983; Dupont, 2000). However, they are not considered reliable as very few details are available or no information are given concerning the potential care given to the volatile properties of the test substance.
