Key result
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
2.03
Temp.:
20 °C
Remarks on result:
other: pH not measured
Details on results:
The test item concentration was higher than 0.01 mole/L, corresponding to 2.37 g/L. This concentration implied to be very close to the detection limit of 1,2-dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethoxy)ethane, especially for the aqueous phase. In order to ensure a good quantification of the substance in both the media, the loaded concentrations were higher than the ones recommanded in the quidelines. The results were equivalent for all the tests. So it was concluded that the loaded concentration of the test item didn't impact the value of Log Pow

The n-octanol/water partition coefficient was calculated with the values obtained for the six assay. According to the guidelines, the six log POW should not differ of more than 0.3 units, therefore, the test item was considered as valid.

Assay   Volumic ratio of water phase and octanol phase (Voctanol/ Vwater)  Log Pow
 Assay 1   1/1  2.05
 Assay 2   1/1

 1.87

 Assay 3   2/1  1.96
 Assay 4   2/1  2.00

 Assay 5

  1/2  2.15
 Assay 6   1/2   2.13
Conclusions:
The log partition coefficient of the test item at 20°C is 2.03
Executive summary:

The partition coefficient of the test item was determined with the shake flask method according to recognised guidelines. A deviation from the guidelines was observed but it didn't impact the quality or the results of the study.

The partition coefficient was determined in six assays. According to the Guidelines, the six log POW should not differ of more than 0.3 units, therefore, the test item was considered as valid.

The log partition coefficient of the test item at 20°C is 2.03.
