Additional information

Propiophenone is a liquid (colourless to 20 Hazen max) at 20 °C and 1013 hPa. Literature data indicate that the substance can exist as leaflets or tabular crystals with a strong, persistent, agreeable, flowery odour; presumably, these data are referred to temperatures lower than 19- 21 °C (indicated as melting temperature).

The JECFA on-line publication indicates the substance as colourless oily liquid or low melting crystalline solid with a pungent, powerful, floral, herbaceous odour.
