Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
adsorption / desorption: screening
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient and the adsorption potential of this substance is related to this parameter

Description of key information

The logPow of Crotonic acid was calculated by EPIWIN and indicated a value of 0.85.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of Annex VIII (section 9.3.1) and Annex IX (section 9.3.3) of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, the study on adsorption/desorption screening, does not need to be conducted if on the basis of the physical-chemical properties the substance is expected to have a low potential for adsorption (e.g. the substance has a low octanol/water partition coefficient). Since the determination of partition coefficient using EPIWIN calculation resulted in a log Pow of 0.85 no potential for adsorption is expected and thus the conduction of an adsorption/desorption study is not needed.
