Description of key information

The ready biodegradability of l-limonene was determined in a Closed Bottle test performed according to slightly modified OECD, EU and ISO Test Guidelines, and in compliance with the OECD principles of Good Laboratory Practice. l-limonene was biodegraded 85% at day 28 fulfilling the 14d-window hence, this substance is considered as readily biodegradable.

In accordance with REACH Annex VIII column 2, the hydrolysis study does not need to be conducted as the substance is readily biodegradable.

Koc has been estimated by 3 valid QSAR methods according to theECHA Guidance (chapter R.7.a,paragraph R.7.1.15). The Koc endpoint value of 2413 L/kg is the geometric mean of the results obtained and is used as input parameter for Environmental Risk Assessment.

An estimated BCF of 683 L/kg ww was calculated for l-limonene, using a log Kow of 4.53 and the geometric mean value of three validated QSARs resultsas recommended in ECHA guidance R7c.This value is indicative of the potential to bioaccumulate for classification purposes.
