No valid terrestrial studies are available on this substance but studies are available on Chloramine T which is instantly converted to p-TSA in contact with organic material, therefore these studies can be used here as well.

One study, valid without restrictions, is available for soil macroorganisms with Chloramine T (CAS 127 -65 -1). A 14 days short-term study with Eisenai fetida in artificial soil with an organic carbon (OC) content of 5.2%, according to OECD guideline 207, was performed which gave an LC50 of 503 mg/kg soil dw Chloramine T, nominal concentration, which is equivalent to 378 mg/kg soil dw of p-TSA.

One study, valid without restrictions, is available for terrestrial plants with Chloramine T (CAS 127 -65 -1). A 21 day seedling emergence study with three plant speices was performed in natural soil mixed with quartz sand with an OC content of 1.18%, according to OECD 208. Soybean was the most sensitive species and shoot height was the most sensitive endpoint. A NOEC of 111 mg/kg soil dw and an EC50 of 316 mg/kg soil dw was found for Chloramine T, this is equivalent to 83.5 and 238 mg/kg soil dw p-TSA, respectively.

One study, valid with restrictions, is available for terrestrial microorganisms with Chloramine T (CAS 127 -65 -1). Natural soils with an OC content of 0.58%, were exposed to 3 mg/kg soil dw in a 28d study according to OECD guideline 216, in which stimulation of nitrogen mineralization or no effect was found, therefore the NOEC can be set to 3 mg/kg soil dw of Chloramine T, this is equivalent to 2.3 mg/kg soil dw p-TSA.

When this endpoint is converted to a standard OC content of 2% in soil the NOEC is 7.93 mg/kg dw soil.
